Here’s some shots of Mikey DeTemple kill’n it on his 5′3 “Frocket”. I was really stoked when Mikey approached me about building him a board. I thought he was going to want a retro quad or something but when I asked him he was like “well whats your favorite board to shape right now?” I told him about the Frocket and showed him one I made for myself and he said thats exactly what I need right now. Well from the looks of these pics it seems that ” Mikey likes it ” all photos taken by t.colla
Here’s a couple of pics of T.Colla throw’n buckets on his 6′0 Quadzilla. All photos courtesy of Josh Goetz( surfer with camera)oh and here’s (aka tommy clocks/ chubrok / snapwater / tcolla) pushing some water around on his 6′0 Quadzilla
This is my latest model the Frocket (biting tsol a bit). Been riding this board for the last few months and its amazing in small to medium surf. Has the speed of a fish but feels more like a shortboard when turning. I have been building a ton of these this past month and have had great feedback from everyone, usually go about 4 inches smaller then your shortboard. It’s kind of a modernized 80’s outline, full nose, full rails, flat deck and a super wide tail with nice kick in the last 3inches. If you have been riding a thruster your whole life and are looking something fishy but still performance oriented then this is the board for you…..
This was a cool project I took on for Moomah an organic cafe and creative arts center in tribecca. They approached me with these custom one of kind tables with multiple layers of cut outs which gave it some nice depth. I gave each table a 10 layer gloss with poly resin almost like a bar top finish and then polished them out. I wish I had more pics there were about 9 others all very different and unique. www.moomah.com
We did a pretty intense resto on an old Campbell, it was so damaged we had to repalace the 2″ balsa stringer also losing the origional logo. Here’s a recreation of the logo that I hand drew with poska pens. The logo looks off cause of the angle the photo was shot , but believe me it was dead on .
Faktion Surfboards welcomes Unsound supergrom Blake Gregor to the family. This kid can really move some water for a ninety pound 15yr old. (board dims 5′6 17 1/2 1 7/8, round tail, deep single) photos coutesey of Mike Nelson www.unsoundsurf.com
This board has been in the works for sometime now. Tommy aka Snapwater came to me with his idea of a monster twin keel but with a pulled in tail so it would not slip and slide in the juice. We talked about different designs for a while then had him come to the shaping shack to really dial in what he was looking for. This is what we came up with.
Here’s a Resto project brought to me by Luke Thorpe. When he first brought it over I was like whoa I don’t know about this one it was destroyed. But Luke was pretty amped on it and wanted to ride the thing which was going to make things even harder, it couldn’t just look pretty it needed to be solid. I owe a big thanks to Edgar for doing all the B.S. repairs couldn’t and wouldn’t have done it without him. I believe this board was an old Bunger but we are not positive. Ck back for updates I have a couple of more restos going through the works right now. Anyone interested in restoring their old beater give me a shout at info@faktionsurfboards.com
